You can take a ferry to Vestmannaeyjar then you simply go to the south coast of Iceland to Landeyjahöfn and take the ferry to our beautiful island. The sailing time is about 45 minutes.

The Ferry to Vestmannaeyjar
The Ferry Herjólfur normally sails from Landeyjahöfn at the South Coast of Iceland and the trip takes about 45 minutes. However when sea conditions are not good they might need to sail to and from the nearest harbour which is in Þorlákshöfn and then the sailing takes about 3 hours.
Note that you need to be at the ferry’s office 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. All tickets are scanned prior to boarding and the gate closes five minutes before departure.
Opening hours of the Herjólfur Office
Opening hours everyday are from 06:30 to 23:15 when sailing from Landeyjahöfn. Opening hours everyday are from 06:30 to 20:45 when sailing from Þorlákshöfn.
Parking
Free parking is available to passengers on the parking lot by the Landeyjahöfn and Þorlákshöfn. Note that you do not need to take a car over to Vestmannaeyjar if you want but some prefer to do so.
How do I get there?
You can take public transport to the ferry’s harbors, with buses departing from Mjódd in Reykjavík see www.straeto.is . For additional information please call 540-2700. Note that the buses are not scheduled for all the ferry’s departure times.

It takes about two hours to drive from Reykjavik to Landeyjahöfn harbor under good conditions. Check it out on Google maps
